Pierre Favre (1906-1983) Characters On The Quay In Cassis flag

Object description :

"Pierre Favre (1906-1983) Characters On The Quay In Cassis"
An economy of detail and the spontaneity of the first draft which gives this oil on canvas by the Painter Pierre Favre movement and lightness, in the tradition of certain masters of the early 20th century such as Charles Camoin or Albert Marquet. The work in good condition is offered in a classic Louis XIV style frame which measures 70 cm by 81 cm and 54 cm by 65 cm for the canvas alone. A modern American box type frame can be considered, which would suit it just as well. It represents characters on the Quai Barthélémy in Cassis between 1927 and 1944, the old lighthouse dating this work exhibited in 2013 as part of Marseille Capitale de la Culture and which is reproduced in Pierre Murat's catalog, “Cassis, Port de Painting -1845-1945- at the turn of modernity” published by the Regards de Provence Foundation. A simple, modern, cheerful and lively painting.

Student of the National School of Decorative Arts from 1924 to 1925, in 1931 he was part of the Société Artistique de l'Hérault in 1938 of the Société des Artistes Indépendants – 18 rue Mazarine, Paris, France And from 1948 to 1949 at the Union of Artists of Provence in Marseille.
