"Louis XVI Period Office Armchair In Carved Wood And Genoa Velvet (old But New)"
Queen's armchair used as an office chair, beautiful, very finely carved model, the back in a gendarme's hat, the armrests in leafy baluster, resting on 4 fluted legs. It is a refined production from the end of the Louis XVI period, a Parisian work of a good seat carpenter, but unfortunately not stamped, which does not allow the author to be identified with certainty. However, 3 years ago we sold a pair of Boulard chairs, very similar in construction: https://www.gslr-antiques.com/fr/boutique/sieges/paire-fauteuils-reine-boulard.php, which is a clue to attribution For this beautiful collector's seat, we had a very beautiful silk velvet chiselled in the Genoa style, ruby red in color. It is new (never installed) although dating from the end of the 19th century, with matching braiding. The panel and knife blade trim is made of horsehair. The chair is trimmed on straps underneath. Very good condition, healthy and free joinery with usual restorations. Width: 55cm Height: 91cm Seat height: 40cm
