"Robj: The Municipal Council"
Very rare series of 6 porcelain pieces, described by the ROBJ house as “The Municipal Council”, present in the 1929 catalog. These pieces constitute a humorous vision of rural France before the crisis of 29, which was, unfortunately, to take away in 1931 this brand which has remained as one of the most emblematic of French Art Deco. The characters are the mayor, the priest, the cook, the bourgeois, the gendarme and the country guard (unless it is a firefighter). Finding all of these pieces, generally scattered and each uncommon, is particularly exceptional. All the characters are cream pots, whose bust forms the lid. The lower part of these pots bears the indication ROBJ PARIS, Made in France. One restoration on two of the lids.
