Large still life representing pots of hortensias and roses in a garden by Eugène Claude (1841-1922). Oil on canvas signed lower left. Eugène Claude is a French genre painter, animal, still life, flowers and fruit. He was born on June 10, 1841 and died in 1922 in Paris. He participated in the Paris Salon in 1861 and at the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1889 where he was rewarded. He is known for his interior scenes and still lifes. Museums: Amiens, Compiègne, Draguignan, Mulhouse, Pontoise, Reims, Saintes, Toulouse and Troyes. The painting is in very good condition (an old piece on the back of the canvas).
