Object Of Curiosity - Funeral – Souvenir Medallion Fixed Under Glass

These kinds of objects are becoming rare: funeral medallion whose subject in a coaster depicts a man placing a funeral wreath on a grave. Late 19th / early 20th century. The back and frame are made of sheet iron.
This type of mortuary keepsake was found in niches carved into the steles of graves. Sometimes sealed with a porthole and forming a funerary diorama, more often than not they were hung as they were, at the mercy of the ravages of time and weather.
