Imposing centerpiece, covered pot in solid silver by London goldsmiths Lambert & Coventry (Herbert-Charles Lambert). active in London in the second part of the 19th century. Resting on a circular pedestal, the swollen body, the pot is richly decorated with Chinese decorations, spring scenes, fanciful birds, leaves and garlands of hanging flowers. The model cover, hemmed with nets, is topped with a large, finely re-engraved stylized pine cone grip. NB: a fine fillet joining the pot appearing at the height of the shoulder, consolidated with tin from the inside, (very discreet and lost in the ornament). (see photo *). Tiny normal signs of use. Height at the fretel - total height: 37 cm. / 14.57 in. Pedestal diameter - Base diameter: 15.8 cm. / 6.22 in. Weight of solid silver 1,535 Gr. Hallmarks for London 1878-1879 on the body (letter-date-city etc.) Monogram in cross on the reverse of the pot with monogram initials: P and J. Stamp of Maison LAMBERT COVENTRY. Numbered piece.
