Small mahogany and amaranth secretary desk composed of a belt drawer whose mahogany veneer front is inlaid with a composition of foliage and flowers in light wood, highlighted by a border of amaranth and lemon tree. This drawer equipped with an authentic functional lock with gilded bronze entry and rear key. Below, the flap, also fitted with an original lock, has an important marquetry decoration of a basket of flowers with Greek amaranth surround and corners. Open, this flap, trimmed with redone orange leather with gold vignette and central motif, is held in place by two brass compasses. The interior offers four drawers with lens buttons as well as two storage spaces. The lower part of this secretary has a double door patterned with bouquets and knots crafted in the same spirit including lock, entrances, key and iron latch. This opening gives access to two niches, one of which is equipped with a flap, mounted on hinges, also equipped with an oval brass entry lock and key. The canted uprights of this piece of furniture, in rosewood and amaranth, are highlighted by “capital” falls at the top and gilded bronze motifs at the bottom. Each side has two panels, in amaranth veneer, arranged like butterfly wings. This exceptional piece of furniture is topped with original Aleppo marble, with a groove and slight projection, reinforced by rods.
