Bronze with brown patina in Thai style from the 17th – 18th century, work from the beginning of the 20th century. Buddha Shakyamuni with a serene expression, marked by half-closed eyes, elegantly arched eyebrows, an aquiline nose and full lips sketching a benevolent smile. The elongated lobes with lotiform earrings evoke its princely origins. The elaborate crown as a floral headband and topped with a conical ushnisha, this cranial protuberance is one of the 32 main attributes of his wisdom (Lakshana). .Height of the head alone: 36 cm Provenance: Estate of the art dealer and collector Claude de Marteau.
