"Portrait Of A Young Aristocrat, France, Circa 1850"
Large oil on canvas representing a young woman of quality, undoubtedly an aristocrat, French school around 1850. By family tradition it is the portrait of Countess Hallez Claparede, lady-in-waiting to Empress Eugénie (1826-1920) , and attributed to Edouard Louis Dubufe. The painting, given the quality, had to be signed, but the canvas was shortened as can be seen on the sides, to put it in a beautiful period frame. It is not said that it was a full-length portrait. The frame, with gold leaf, is currently being restored. Dimensions: 1.17m x 0.90m canvas only. Original canvas and frame.
