This association was formed on the death of George II Jacob. Since then his works bore another inscription arranged like the previous one on two lines. The traditions of Georges Jacob were continued by his sons Georges and François-Honoré united under the name of “Jacob Frères”, then on the death of the eldest of the Jacob brothers on 30 Vendémiaire year XII (October 23, 1803), François- Honoré formed a new association with his father, under the name “Jacob Desmalter et Cie”. When he was appointed cabinetmaker to the Emperor, his factory had developed prodigiously. There were no less than fifteen workshops there, including seven for carpentry, cabinetmaking and turning, three for sculpture, painting and gilding on wood, three others for bronze work, one for tapestry and the last for mechanical locksmithing. The father was always there active and wise, watching over everything. We manufactured a lot, we manufactured “rich”, but what had become of the exquisite lines of “Jacob” of the 18th century. The fact remains that it was at this time that Jacob, working with the painter David, created the Empire style, imitated from the antique and which sought in the art of Imperial Rome its sumptuous, majestic and hard lines. . Furniture of very good manufacturing quality and elegant. Work from the Empire Period, Circa 1800. Dimensions: Height: 96 cm Width: 63.5 cm Depth: 65 cm Seat Height: 47.5 cm In good condition, please note that a small cleaning of the fabric may be necessary.
