"Reliquary Of The True Cross - 19th Century"
An interesting reliquary as much for its shape as for its relic of the True Cross. In a crafted gilded wood frame, topped with a pediment carved with flowers with, in its center, a medallion which watches over the entire reliquary. It is a gouache of the scared Virgin in front of the body of Christ. Arranged around a plot of the cross, like petals around the heart of a flower, are the relics of Saint Teresa, Saint Lucy, Saint Mark Martyr, and Saint Theodore. Saint Blandina, Saint Flaviniem, Saint Cirille Martyr, and an unidentified Saint Martyr, are also among us as well as 7 painted wax medallions.
Piece in good condition but note pediment separated from the frame and slots.
