"Oil On Canvas Signed Lucien Weil, Brittany Probably Erquy, Breton Fisherman,"
Lucien Weil (1902-1963) Alsatian painter, student of Jean Paul Laurens with his friend Alfred Giess, second grand prix de Rome in 1926. Our painting could be called "the call of the open sea", it represents a Breton fisherman marked by the sea scanning the horizon, the entrance to the port. This is probably the port of Erquy where the painter stayed, and painted alongside Léon Hamonet (student of Alfred Smith) and André Gagey. The work is in good condition, it has some refinishing, slight traces.
