"La Rochelle By Claude Le Baube"
Claude LE BAUBE returning from fishing in La Rochelle oil on canvas signed lower right format 61 cm x 38cm ...Born into a family of artists, Claude Le Baube is the son of Marthe Vasselon and Robert le Baube and the grandson of painters Hortense Dury-Vasselon and Marius Vasselon through his mother and Victor Le Baube through his father. He is the father of the photographer Guy Le Baube. He already draws at a very young age. The work of Jules Verne and the illustrations from the Hetzel collection had a profound impact on him during his childhood; they would subsequently be a lasting source of inspiration. Claude Le Baube works essentially on the theme of landscapes painted from nature, seascapes executed with a concern for historical realism and still lifes or genre scenes often of fantastic inspiration. His work reflects his knowledge of the maritime world, his numerous travels and his taste for nature, served by precise drawing and an overflowing imagination driven by nostalgia, and sometimes even by a certain anguish.
