Flag cock of the Batational Guard in chiseled and gilded brass. The rooster has its left paw placed on a sword and a laurel branch and its right paw on a globe marked: "FRANCE". the box is marked: "French Republic" on one side and on the other the motto "Liberté Egalité Fraternité". These inscriptions on the box are unusual and suggest that this rooster was used during the Second Republic (1848-1852) Height 33 cm. Louis-Philippe period. Good condition
