"Hélène Lavergne Mosticker (1866-1949) Charming Pastel On Canvas Portrait Of A Child Art Nouveau Era 1900"
Pastel on canvas with oval view mounted on stretcher, signed, dated and sent at the bottom left. Lovely portrait of a child in pastels executed with great delicacy. A rich palette of colors in tones of water green, blue, white for the lace of the collar, pink for the complexion, infinite subtle and velvety shades that only pastel allows. It is highlighted by its exceptional original frame of very high quality in gilded and stuccoed wood, heart strips and sea green background in the colors of the work. Its assembly is also originally carried out "according to the rules of the art" with cleats so that the pastel is not in contact with the glass. Made in the very first years of the 20th century, before 1910. Photos of the work without the assembly and framed with its glass. Even more beautiful in reality, the photos soften the colors and “erase” the relief. Dimensions: 46 cm x 38 cm 50 cm x 44.5 cm with its frame Very good condition, the canvas having been protected over all these years by cardboard covering the back of the work of which some traces remain (see photos) . Some adjustments to the frame. The vast majority of our artist's work was done in pastel with portraiture as his favorite theme, just like her husband, Georges-Auguste-Élie Lavergne, first Grand Prix de Rome in painting in 1892. At the Mandet museum in Riom, an exceptional portrait of a woman by Hélène Lavergne. Many other objects to discover in my stand at the Trade Shows in which I participate.
