Object description :

"Carved Wood, Lacquered And Gilded Openwork Pediment Mirror Decorated With A Putto Musician "
Carved wood, lacquered and gilded openwork pediment mirror decorated with a Putto musician from the French Louis XIV period

An exceptional and elegant openwork pediment mirror from the French Louis XIV period circa 1700-1710, carved in red lacquered wood and gilded with gold leaf. The pediment is beautifully and elegantly decorated with a Putto musician playing a flute, adorned with bellflowers and palmettes, the frame decorated with flower falls and palmettes.
Our mirror can be compared with an important mirror from the same period, circa 1700-1710, kept at the Musée des Arts décoratifs under inventory number inv. 26547 and reproduced in the book « Tromper les Yeux, Miroirs dans le Grand Décor en Europe (XVIIe et XVIIIe siècle) », page 21, Éditions Faton.

Sizes: H 51.96 In. - W 29.13 In.

Our mirror has been restored to a condition close to that which it was in the early 18th century. The mirror has probably been replaced.
A rare piece that will be appreciated by collectors and connoisseurs of French Grand Siècle of Arts.
