"Pair Of Usubata Vases, Bronze - Silver, Japan, Meiji Era (1868-1912)."
Pair of magnificent Japanese "Usubata" - "fine edge" - vases in bronze, with complex decorations made using the silver inlay technique. Since the 17th century, vases of this type have been used for floral arrangements, particularly for special occasions and celebrations. The inlaid decoration depicts flowers, rocks, swallows and ornamental friezes. On the side of the vase are two handles, supported at the bottom by three elephant heads.

Japan, Meiji era (1868-1912).

Height 35.5 cm, diameter 23.5 cm.
