Object description :

"Hand-knotted Vintage Sarough Carpet In A Wonderful Red-blue Colour Composition Persia 1960s"

This antique, finely hand-knotted Sarough rug is exemplary of the high quality produced in this small village in the Arak region.
Antique Sarough rugs have a very distinctive salmon red color that is almost unique among hand-knotted oriental rugs.
It is a real investment, as old Sarough rugs are a rarity and are no longer knotted in Persia,
In addition, the rugs are made of high-quality sheep's wool and vegetable dyes and are of excellent quality.
A genuine Sarough will last a lifetime.

High quality wool
Cork wool is sheep's wool from the neck of the sheep. Wool is a natural material that has important positive properties for everyday use. It is extremely hard-wearing and can easily withstand daily wear and tear. With the right care, it can also last for many decades without showing signs of ageing. Cork wool is particularly soft and shiny as it has a higher natural fat content. It is therefore only used in high-quality carpets. "
Hand-knotted
Traditionally hand-knotted carpets still represent the highest quality standard of all carpet types. Depending on the type of knot, the rugs are extremely robust and can last for generations. The finer and tighter a carpet is knotted, the more detailed ornaments and patterns can be depicted on the pile. At the same time, a very fine oriental rug requires significantly more manual effort as well as a higher level of experience and skill on the part of the weaver. The knot density therefore also serves as a decisive value factor for hand-knotted carpets. The quality is not directly related to the knotting density.
