André Breton commits to his new publisher under certain conditions: “Gentlemen, I have, as you know, denounced the contracts which linked me to Editions du Sagittaire. You know that circumstances dictated it to me and that I am within my rights. I undertake to grant you the exclusive right, under the conditions of your standard contract of which I have a copy, to publish the works which were the subject of these contracts, namely: Manifesto of Surrealism Second Manifesto of Surrealism Position politics of surrealism Martinique snake charmer Anthology of black humor Arcane 17 The key to the fields. I have noted that due to the fact that you were able to note the merits of my position, you expressly and fully guarantee me the consequences of any action which could be directed against me following the denunciation of the Sagittarius contract, the contract signed with you and this letter, in particular any conviction. You further undertake to make advance payments and to bear definitively all costs and fees that these instances may entail (…)”
