He obtained his master's degree in cabinetmaking in 1779 and moved to rue de Bourbon-Villeneuve before moving in 1799 and establishing his workshop on rue de l'Échiquier. He ceased his activity in 1806. Thanks to his certain talent, the quality and rarity of these works compared to the large number of pieces produced by his famous cousin Georges, he very quickly enjoyed great notoriety. His production of chairs earned him numerous orders, among the most prestigious people of the time. From 1785 Henri Jacob obtained orders from the Court and manufactured classic Louis XVI seats in gilded wood. Its most important production consists mainly of Directoire and Consulate seats, in mahogany, with sculptures of great finesse.
