"Claude Thiénon (paris 1772 – 1846) Watercolor Drawing Young Woman Reading Near A Italian Lake"
Lovely watercolor on very finely executed pencil lines representing a young woman with an open book on her knees, sitting on a flowered terrace near an Italian lake, at the foot of a column supporting an ancient statue. End of the 18th - beginning of the 19th century. Old assembly. Very pretty animated and sculpted frame from the 19th century whose gilding shows wear in places, hand-drawn master key. Signed lower left Thiénon. Dimensions: Drawing: 17.3 cm x 11.3 cm Frame: 25.5 cm x 20 cm Good condition. Slight sunstroke, discreet pitting in the sky consistent with its age. Claude Thiénon is a French painter, designer and lithographer who was a student of Louis-Gabriel Moreau. Close to the imperial family and cousin of Jean-Baptiste Isabey, in 1806 he became the official designer of Louis Bonaparte. Claude Thienon was once suspected of being the father of Napoleon III.
