"Silver Water Pot, Paris 1789"
Rare solid silver water pot in baluster shape, side handle, slightly molded neck; it rests on a pedestal. It wears under the bottom and inside the foot. the goldsmith's mark: JCP, a crescent, two grains of medicine on either side of a fleur-de-lys topped with a crown. Jean Pierre Charpenat was born in Paris in 1782. He died in 1806. The charge hallmark: In Paris 1789 The hallmark of the Paris common house: P for the year 1789 Weight 0.352 grams Each part, collar, handle and foot bears the recency of small objects: crab. Jean-Pierre Charpenat, supplier to the crown, created the famous travel kit for Queen Marie Antoinette and its replica for her sister Marie-Christine de Hasbourg-Lorraine, Archduchess of Austria.
