""the Senegalese Tirailleur" Bronze By Paul Moreau- Vauthier"
"The Senegalese Tirailleur", work of the sculptor Paul Moreau-Vauthier, born in Paris in 1871 and died in Poitiers in 1936. Son of the sculptor Augustin Jean Moreau-Vauthier. A former hairy man from Verdun, he designed numerous works linked to the war of 14-18. He was also the creator of the "Vauthier Columns" which materialized the front line of July 1918. This pretty bronze treated with a certain roughness of line perfectly expresses the strength of this soldier, we can note a superb facial expression. Everything is treated with a subtle brown patina in perfect condition. French work from the 1920s. Signature on the terrace.
