Beautiful canvas (recanvassed) from the 19th century representing a Breton coast animated with characters. very good state. It is signed by Francis Blin, a painter born in Rennes in 1827 and died in the same city in 1866. A landscaper from Brittany, this student of Picot began at the Salon of 1852. His style is quite characteristic. He often represents Landes, seasides under the lighting of rainy skies and plays with tones of gray which accentuate the melancholy aspect. he also painted in Sologne and in the Fontainebleau forest. Many museums have his works. Dunkirk, Alençon, Cherbourg, Clamecy, Langres, Lille, Montargis, Nevers, Reims and Rennes. Referenced in Bénézit, in the little masters of painting by Gérald Schurr and in a dictionary of distinguished French landscape painters of the 19th Century. Dimensions of the re-canvassed canvas and in very good condition, 73.5 cm x 54 cm. Presented in a modern carved and gilded wooden frame measuring 90 cm x 70.5 cm.
