Object description :

"Jules Delaunay (c.1845 - 1906) - Woman At Her Toilette."
An intimate painting, woman at her toilet, by Jules Delaunay. A feminine work, refined with great delicacy.

Oil on canvas Signed lower right
Dimensions: 55.5 x 46 cm
With frame: 87 x 78 cm

Woman at her toilet, the subtle balance of an intimate moment.

Jules Delaunay represents a very pretty young woman in front of her jewelry cabinet, her hand holding a pearl necklace. She seems to be hesitating about the choice of her necklace. This is the very last touch of seduction to perfect your grooming, before putting on your coat and going out. Her back is turned, not looking at the viewer, which helps create the impression of intimacy.

A feminine painting, refined with great delicacy,

Grace, delicacy, subtlety, refinement; the charm operates in this painting. The elegant one, all sheathed in white satin, is of great elegance. Her hair, with its cascading golden curls, is decorated with small white flowers. Her coat with its deep blue fur outlines contrasts with the whiteness of the dress. The interior is opulent. A bouquet, a fan and jewelry are arranged on the console table facing it.A very pretty light diffused through the window makes the satin of the dress shimmer thanks to impasto paint which catches the light. The background is worked; the furniture, a painting hanging on the wall, the patterns of the wall tapestry and the carpet.
