"Secretary Stamped Jacob Desmalter, Restoration Period, In Ash Wood."
SECRETARY FROM THE RESTORATION PERIOD (CIRCA 1820), BY THE PARISIAN CABINET MAKER FRANCOIS HONORE GEORGES DIT JACOB DESMALTER (1770-1841). FURNITURE OF THE SOBER LINE TYPICAL OF THE RESTORATION PERIOD, IN ASH WOLF VENEER, THE FIRST DRAWER WITH AMARANTE MARQUETRY.
THE INTERIOR IS IN MAPLE BURN, BUT UNFORTUNATELY THERE IS NO ORIGIN OF THE SECRETARY, ALTHOUGH OLD, IT IS NOT HIS.
THE SECRETARY IS STAMPED UNDER THE LID JACOB.D.R.MESLEE (SEE PHOTO). IT IS VERY WELL BUILT AND HEAVY, IN THE QUALITY OF JACOB FURNITURE.
SLOTS IN THE DUEX DOORS AT THE BOTTOM, MISSING THE KEY.
