Object description :

"Yves Saint-laurent – Original Signed Drawing"
Untitled, 1951
Graphite and stump on paper signed and dated, 55.5 x 44.5 cm. Tender and cruel work, of extreme purity. In the emaciated and hard face of the young girl, as in the worried face of the child, we find the trace of the fight between the demon and innocence. Yves Saint-Laurent's obsessive theme of the splits of which women are the heroines: “My childhood continues within me like a dream that does not want to die” Provenance: a friend of the Yves SAINT-LAURENT family (1936 – 2008) entered as an assistant in the haute-couture house Christian Dior, took over its management upon the latter's death in 1957 at the age of 21. He left Dior to launch his brand in 1961. His women's and then men's collections were very successful, notably with the timeless women's tuxedo, the trench coat and the pantsuit. He tries other fields such as theater and cinema. He launches his perfume, buys the Gucci house. He retired in 2002 and died six years later.
