Autograph letter signed to the librettist Jules Adenis. S.l.n.d. (Paris, circa September 12, 1867); 4 pages in-12°. Beautiful letter from the composer of “Carmen”, written the day after the dress rehearsal on September 10, 1867 of his new opera “La Jolie Fille de Perth”: “Dear friend Moi dead of fatigue – 4th act duet not good for de Vriès [ Joan of Virès] and too Huguenots – St Georges [Henri de Saint-Georges] remade the scene. she comes to Smith unaware of the duel affair!!!!!!! – She arrives trembling, dying. – here, a number starting with a desolate minor and ending with a major song – effect – Carvalho, Massez and de Vriès enchantés – great effect, you will see.
