"Louis XVI Central Cassetin Gaming Table"
Louis XVI period gaming table. Late 18th century. Rare model with removable central case. In solid mahogany and mahogany veneer, it rests on five tapered and fluted legs, topped with rings and finished with bronze shoes. The belt, on all sides, is decorated with quarter-round brass strips on the crosspieces (including at the rear) and brass plates on the square masses of the feet. The top covered in felt with a mahogany edge is surrounded by an ingot mold. The center of the board accommodates the mahogany case. The latter is made up of eight compartments for tokens around the perimeter, the middle allowing you to place a hot water bottle lamp. This table allows different configurations and can thus fold up and form a half-moon console. The top in this case is completed by a mahogany semi-circle closing the reserve of the case. In the game table version, this reserve can accommodate either the case or a felt-covered disc. Buffer varnish finish. Dimensions: L 112 x D 56 x H 72
