Pair of furniture at support height forming silverware in mahogany and mahogany veneer. Opens with a door on the front topped with a drawer. The uprights with cut sides. Rests on four tapered legs. Top of veined white marble (slightly uneven for one). The interior reveals numerous custom-made boxes for storing silverware. Quite rare on the market. Louis XVI style, late 19th century, early 20th century Dimensions of each piece of furniture: H x W x D = 93 x 66 x 41cm. Perfect condition, restored in our workshop. Price 3600€ What we think of it: a pair of furniture at support height which reveals silverware with its storage for cutlery, ladles of plates...A rather rare original piece of furniture with simple refinement where mahogany is widely featured value. Executed with noble materials and of remarkable quality. Where we are original with this pair of furniture is because the silver buffet or silver counter is often a large two-body buffet whose upper part is made up of leaves, a niche, sometimes a credenza but above all small display cases for displaying silverware. Did you know ? : silverware used as tableware has existed since antiquity but did you know that for eight years from 1682, the date of the installation of the court at Versailles, the Grand Apartment of King Louis Mirrors amaze with their fabulous solid silver furniture? Today the decor remains, but the furniture has disappeared, suddenly melted down in 1689 to finance the war which lasted 9 years (War of the League of Augsburg from 1688 to 1697). In total 20 tons of money. The King, who thought he would get six million pounds from his silver treasure which had cost him ten, only obtained two….
