"George Sand – Signed Autograph Letter"
Autograph letter signed “A. DUDEVANT”. Between 1822 and 1831; 1 page in-12°. Extremely rare letter from Sand signed DUDEVANT concerning the stewardship of Baron Dudevant's property: "A thousand thanks Sir, for the kindness you had in lending a horse to my servant and for the promptness with which you sent me the documents that I asked you. Accept the expression of my highest consideration, A. Dudevant.” Aurore DUPIN met Baron François Casimir DUDEVANT in the spring of 1822, she married hastily on September 17 and became Baroness Aurore Dudevant. Two children were born from this union, Maurice in 1823 and Solange in 1828, the only children of Sand who would form his close circle throughout his life. This marriage was short-lived, Aurore Dudevant left her husband for Jules SANDEAU in 1831, she became a journalist at Le Figaro. She definitively opted for the name George SAND upon the release of her first novel “Indiana” in 1832.
