Object description :

"Louis XVI Period Alcove Cartel In Gilded Bronze"
Alcove cartel from the Louis XVI period, finely chiseled and gilded with mercury. Repeated ringing on demand on 2 gongs using a pull tab. The gilded bronze frame in pure Louis XVI style rests on a console, a glass bezel allowing you to see the movement of the pendulum. The white enameled dial has double numbering, the openwork hands are in gilded bronze. Decorated laterally with laurel garlands, it ends at the top with an antique vase. The mechanism is original from the 18th century, the balance is "wire". The ringing is carried out on 2 separate bells allowing, through their sounds, to distinguish the hours from the half-hours. A pull cord allows you to activate the on-demand ringing function (used to ring again to find out the last elapsed hour). The mercury gilding is in perfect condition!
