After living in Paris, Victor Lecomte settled at the Château de l'Étape in Chennevières from 1882 to 1883. In 1885, he lived at 37, rue Saint Hyacinthe then on the banks of the Marne at 91, quai de La Varenne. He remained there until 1914.
During the war, he stayed in Barbizon, then settled in Paris, Boulevard Saint Germain until his death on February 26, 1920. Son of a wood gilder, he took some courses at the National School of Fine Arts of Paris.
He is a student of PIGNOT and Achille GILBERT and assiduously attends the Louvre. He exhibited regularly from 1877 to 1914 at the Salon des Artistes Français and was rewarded with several medals and state acquisitions. He also participates in the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-arts and the Salon des Amis des Arts de Saint-Maur, of which he is one of the founding members. These paintings with intimate subjects in the light of an indoor lamp will make his reputation.
