"Earthenware Soliflore Vase By André Baud In Vallauris"
Rare soliflore vase in enameled earthenware by André Baud in Vallauris, black, red and yellow polychrome decoration, geometric pattern on the neck. 1960s. Perfect condition Height 34cm Vallauris stamp under the base André Baud (1903-1986) After studying at the Bourges school of fine arts and the Paris school of arts applied to industry, in 1925 he obtained a prize at the International Exhibition of Decorative Arts. In 1942, he settled with his wife in Vallauris and produced culinary and utility pottery while creating more decorative pieces. He participated in the "golden age of Vallauris" with Suzanne and Georges Ramié, Robert Picault, Roger Capron, Jean Derval...André Baud was interested in space and astronomy and some of his creations are characteristics of the “space age” period. In 1969, he closed his pottery in Vallauris and moved to Charente.
