"Timpani With Appliques, Silver, Paris 1739"
Beautiful silver timpani, it rests on a pedestal molded with eggs, the body separated in two by a rush, the lower register with alternating lanceolate and lambrequin appliques on an amati background, the edge engraved with village scenes, by the master goldsmith Claude Charvet, Paris 1739-1740. Claude Charvet was appointed privileged goldsmith to the Duke of Orléans on March 21, 1724. He had his mark inscribed on June 4, 1728. He died on October 17, 1751. Weight 186g. Condition, good, traces of use and wear. Rare item.
