Note : Charles Wolfgang de Gingins (Geneva, 1815 – Cannes, 1873), officer, was the son of Louis Henri de Gingins and Elisabeth Armande Françoise Tronchin. He was also the husband of Hélène Elisabeth Charlotte Tronchin, salonnière, abolitionist and feminist, and the father of four children. He was the owner of the Château de Gingins in Switzerland, in the Canton of Vaud. This illustrious Swiss family included among its members, for example, the botanist Frédéric Charles Jean de Gingins de la Sarraz (Éclépens, 1790 – Lausanne, 1863).
