Gilded bronze statuette of Saint John the Baptist, 19th century
This statuette sits on a black marble pedestal made of a cylindrical part and a square base. Wearing his camel skin melota, Saint John the Baptist is depicted being giving the baptism, his right hand raised to make water flow on a baptised person. A sheep stands lying at his feet, symbole of the coming sacrifice of Christ. The statuette should originaly hold a stick in the left hand.
Very good condition, well preserved gilding.
