"Group Sculpted After Clodion"
We offer for sale this important bronze group, composed of four figures on a Morello cherry marble terrace after CLODION. CLODION is a pseudonym of Claude Michel, born December 20, 1738 in Nancy and died March 20, 1814 in Paris. He is a Lorraine sculptor who became French from 1766. He was called CLODION or little Claude to differentiate him from an older brother. He was a student of Jean Baptiste PIGALLE (another famous sculptor of the 17th century) our 19th century group is of good size with a superb patina. (E23)
