Inside the case, the flap is upholstered in off-white silk-like fabric and the interior in brown felt with gold braid. Inside, a cryocautery by Docteur Lortat-Jacob, stamped with the Maison Drapier trademark. Also inside, eight copper tips and 1 charging tip. This set corresponds to the sets sold by Maison Drapier under reference 29318 in its 1929 catalog, but must have appeared in catalogs in the 1920s.
Doctor Léon Lortat-Jacob perfected a cryocautery presented in 1912, and was appointed hospital physician in 1913, then head of department in 1921 at Hôpital Saint Louis in Paris. His work focused, among other things, on the role of low temperatures and the application of cold to hygiene and therapeutics.
Condition: the box is in good overall condition, with some signs of ageing. The cryocautery and its various components are in very good condition.
