CARLO BONAVIA (act.1740-1788), ATTRIBUTED Landscape with fishermen and square tower Landscape with fishermen and square tower Important oil on canvas in panorama format Dimensions: 61 x 130 cm Provenance: Private collection, Monte-Carlo Italian painter born in Rome, trained in the tradition of the Neapolitan School of Salvatore Rosa and Leonardo Coccorante, he was also strongly influenced by the work of Claude Joseph Vernet who also lived in Naples between 1737 and 1746. Bonavia's paintings share with Vernet this rococo palette of pale blues, creamy yellows, pinks and soft greens, as well as an atmospheric rather than analytical approach to the landscape. We owe him some capricci in which he mixes real elements of the Neapolitan countryside with totally imaginary ones.
