Beautiful large miniature portrait on ivory, oval in shape, feauturing the Emperor, probably inspired by the portrait of Isabey, from 1810, as a colonel of the Grenadiers of the Guard, a uniform that he loved.
The anonymous artist has surpassed himself in this portrait, which is of very good quality.
Period: early 19th century, before the return of the Ashes.
Dimensions = ivory plate: 10cm x 8.5cm. Frame: 17.3cm and 15cm.
Condition, as discovered, is good, with the beginnings of cracking, of no consequence. (red arrow)
