Verquelure Quilt And Bolster Covers From The Pays De Montbéliard, Late 19th Century

Quilt cover (170 x 148 cm) and bolster cover (115 x 63 cm) in verquure, rustic 19th century canvas with red and blue checks from the Montbéliard region in hemp and linen. The covers are sewn by hand. The underside of the 2 covers is in bleached canvas, that of the bolster is monogrammed MA and that of the LA comforter in red cross stitch.
This very rare canvas was traditionally woven in families on small looms (approximately 80 cm), which explains the seam in the middle of the width of the envelope as well as the connection which is not always right.
These covers are in excellent condition, they have not been used, note a patch (6x5cm) in fabric of the same color but with a different pattern on the duvet cover, see last photos.
These covers can be used as is or taken apart to make a tablecloth, cushions or cover seats.
