French Empire Ormolu (gilt Bronze) Mantel Clock, "the Birth Of Love"

Mantel clock is built on four round legs, the lower base is rectangular with round sides. In the ornament of this base, different putti can be seen in a landscape. The sides are decorated with banners. To the left of the guardhouse is Venus taking the angel of love out of the rose. To the right of the guardhouse is a brazier. The clock is entirely made of gilded bronze. The timepiece has an enamel dial with Roman numerals and finely carved gold-tone hands. The clock includes a spring anchor watch of 8 days with a hanging silk pendulum, a striking mechanism every half hour on a small silver bell.
