"Pair Of Chairs From The Royal Palace By François Honoré Georges Jacob, Restoration"
Pair of mahogany and mahogany veneer chairs from the Restoration period stamped "Iacob". Stamp used from 1813 to 1825 by François Honoré Georges Jacob, son of Georges Jacob, who took his father's stamp model without the G and without the fleur-de-lys, at the end of the Empire Period, then under the Restoration . Good quality work with baluster feet at the front and saber feet called "Jacob feet" at the back. Framed files. The chairs are both stamped and have interesting stamp marks. First turn the mention “PR” for Palais Royal. This is an order to furnish the Palais Royal probably after the fall of Napoleon, around 1820. We also find inventory numbers under each chair with the mention "Dreux". These are therefore chairs having been ordered earlier for the Royal Palace, probably by Louis Philippe before he was king, then transferred to Dreux. The Dreux Chapel was built in 1816 but it was Louis-Philippe who enlarged it in 1839 and furnished it with furniture that had been ordered for other royal residences. The Dreux lettering and the number "346" allow us to find in the national archives a receipt of these chairs between 1830 and 1840. Finally we find the pencil inscription "Berry" indicating to us that these chairs probably passed into the collections of the son of Charles chairs in good condition, damaged leather, some scratches, shocks, wear in the structures.
