Georges is the third son of the painter Camille Pissarro who was his first teacher. Manzana-Pissarro was influenced by Japanese prints as much as the Tahitian and Martinican scenes of Gauguin and developed a penchant for orientalism which resulted in the use of gold, silver and copper paint with which he enhanced his watercolors of fish and birds. Also interested in applied arts, he studied the English Arts & Crafts movement in London. Nourished by all these influences and experiences, he gives life to his very particular and dreamlike style which unfolds on backgrounds often made of silver, gold and bronze.
