"Empire Tea Table Pedestal Table In Mahogany And Gilt Bronze Attributed Sébastien Youf"
Delicate Empire pedestal table or tea table in burly Cuban mahogany veneer on oak frame. Our table differs from the productions by its tripod structure supported by double columns ringed with gilded bronze and above all the use of Corinthian capitals, which is very rare in place of the classic Doric capitals that we find on Empire furniture at columns. The pedestal table topped with white marble molded into a bowl rests on an openwork spacer with feet mounted on casters. Parisian work from the end of the Empire period in the 1810s, very refined production attributed to Sébastien Youf. Sébastien YOUF (1771-1850) is a very talented Parisian cabinetmaker, supplier to the imperial family (cabinetmaker to Princess Elisa from 1807 to 1811). First holding his workshop on rue du Bac in Paris, he moved it to Lucca following Princess Elisa. Today the Pitti Palace in Florence displays numerous pieces of furniture stamped by Youf. Although not stamped, our pedestal table includes characteristic elements and ornaments listed in the work Il Mobile Impero in Italia by Enrico Colle (Pages 116-120 - 122-130). Beautiful collector's item, piece of furniture of great refinement that is not found among all fans of Empire furniture. The small size is also interesting and makes it easier to place than a large tea table of 90cm in diameter. In very good condition, old varnish cleaned and repolished by our cabinetmaker. Height: 76.5 cm. Diameter. 70cm
