Antique Flemish painting from the first half of the 17th century. Oil on canvas artwork depicting a religious subject, Adoration of the Shepherds, of excellent pictorial quality. Large painting adorned with a modern frame, in wood and plaster, carved and gilded. Painting that develops vertically with numerous finely detailed characters. At the top left we find splendid putti and cherubs among the clouds observing the scene and enriching the composition (see photo). In fact, the Gospel of Luke tells that a group of angels brought the happy news to some shepherds singing Glory to God in the highest and peace on earth to the men he loves, as the scroll above states (see photo). At the bottom left are Joseph, baby Jesus and Mary, lovingly intent on making her son's bed comfortable. On the right, however, the clients are portrayed in the role of the shepherds themselves but with seventeenth-century clothes in Nordic style. The quality with which some naturalistic elements were created such as the basket of eggs and the chicken at the bottom right is also touching. Artwork referable to the painter Abraham Bloemaert (1566-1651), missing additional documentation. Painting that has undergone conservative restoration, relining, replacement of the frame and recovery of color in some places (see photo). Overall in good condition. Sight size H 166 x W 143 cm.
