Spectacular ornately carved walnut desk. It presents a central niche painted with a gallant scene, framed by a tier opening with two drawers highlighted by seated putti, a flower bouquet, foliage and shells on a trellis background. The openwork belt of flower garlands opens with two drawers. The four arched legs are sculpted with busts of women in term and linked by an openwork spacer of a trellis and centered with two nymphs. Signed and dated P. Soulet 1896.
