"Transformation Brooch In Silver & Limoges Enamels Paul Bonnaud Art Deco"
Brooch in silver and Limoges enamels known as a transformation brooch because it has two hooks at the back allowing it to be made into a pendant or hung on another piece of jewelry. The decoration is made by the enameler Paul Bonnaud, it is signed on the back P Bonnaud Limoges. The decoration is made by successive layers in pours which gives the impression that there are cracks but they are layers on top of each other. The whole geometric shape is reminiscent of a beetle with stylized lines. The silver setting has a goldsmith's mark (AL and a cross in the center) which is found on the pin with a crab mark. Beautifully made, patina and micro scratches from use of the silver setting, traces of successive enamel drips, small pitting of the enamel at the back around the edge. Height 4 cm, width 3.5 cm, total weight: 10 g.
