""the Neapolitan Fisherman" Bronze By Jean-baptiste Carpeaux"
The Little Neapolitan Fisherman is an emblematic work of the greatest sculptor of the 19th century, Carpeaux. This subject, which he sculpted during his stay in Italy, at the Villa Medici, allowed him to support his family in France thanks to the publication of this subject. In 1913, his family decided to sell the publishing rights to Susse, a renowned founder, who published Carpeaux's work. This proof from the 1920s, signed in cursive JB Carpeaux, is stamped with the stamps of Ets SUSSE and the initials of the engraver, a guarantee of the quality of the cast iron. The bronze has a sea green marble support.
